Honoring the Unique Legacy of Virginia M Satir

The Virginia M. Satir Center, Chapel Hill, North Carolina U.S.A., Inc. was incorporated in June 2023. Supported initially by the Being Human Foundation Foundation as well as individual donations, the center seeks to broaden the teaching of Satir’s work and her legacy.

There are few living practitioners who studied with Virginia and worked side by side with her the way Jean McLendon has, and we are honored that Jean has joined us to continue this work. What Jean offers is unique and is based almost exclusively in the Satir Growth Model as Satir herself conceived and created it. Jean’s mission is to teach Satir and to inspire others to follow in her footsteps as she followed in Virginia’s.

What we Do:

  • Teach and train students and professionals in the Satir Growth Model for personal and professional growth through classes, workshops, supervision, and practice.

  • Work with and supervise those using the Satir Growth Model with individuals, couples, families, groups, businesses, and corporate and institutional systems.

  • Provide continuing education for Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Counselors, and other mental health service providers.

  • Offer a certification program in the Satir Growth Model.

  • Carry the legacy of Virginia Satir to future generations.
