A Powerful Starting Point for Those New to the Satir Growth Model
Co-sponsored by the Virginia M. Satir Center and the Virginia Satir Global Network, this two-day experiential workshop offers a rich introduction to the Satir Growth Model (SGM)—a powerful, humanistic approach to fostering personal healing, relational congruence, and systemic transformation.
This live, online workshop is perfect for those who are new to Virginia Satir’s work or the Growth Model. Whether you're a therapist, coach, educator, or someone seeking personal or relational growth, you’ll come away with foundational tools and insights to support meaningful change.
At the heart of this program is the film Fundamentally Satir, featuring Jean McLendon. The film provides an accessible, real-time demonstration of how the Satir Growth Model facilitates meaningful change in individuals, couples, families, and systems.
Through facilitated discussion and experiential exercises, participants will explore and apply the foundational concepts and tools of the model in an interactive, supportive learning environment.
Participants Will:
Learn core SGM concepts such as the Communication Stances, Congruence, Five Freedoms, Ingredients of an Interaction, Mandala, Change Process, and Self-Esteem Resources
Engage in experiential learning to support awareness, integration, and application
Develop tools for creating change in individuals, couples, families, and organizations
Understand how internal transformation can influence systemic dynamics
This is an ideal workshop for therapists, counselors, coaches, educators, and anyone curious about the Satir approach and its potential to create real, lasting change.
Why Satir?
The Satir Growth Model is a deeply human approach to change. Developed by pioneering family therapist Virginia Satir, the model goes beneath behaviors and symptoms to explore the inner beliefs, emotions, and survival strategies that shape how we relate to ourselves and others.
At its core, Satir’s work is about transformation from the inside out—strengthening self-worth, improving communication, and fostering authentic connection.
What makes the Satir approach unique:
Strength-based and respectful of each person’s inner resources
Experiential, engaging the whole person—body, mind, and spirit
Change-focused, offering clear tools for moving through stuck patterns
Systemic, helping internal shifts ripple outward into relationships and communities
Whether you work with clients, teams, or your own family, the Satir Growth Model offers a clear and compassionate path to growth and congruence.
